Hello and welcome back to a brand newepisode with Fan Fiction. We are your host. I am a cash and I'm sorry andwe've got you a new episode on the preseason testing with for Aloon, twothousand and twenty one. We dive into this episode with what's occurred onthe three days, any news coming out of press confidences and our thoughts onwhat these three days have been. If we found any speculation state, you wouldto see if we have- and you can listen to us on any of your favorite podcastdreaming, APPs starting off Saran. What is what is preseasontesting? Let's? Let's get some perspective there. First, okay, so allthese teams have spent a lot of time in the last couple of months trying todevelop the cars and bring in new innovations with Ardonia engine and tryto improve their performance and improve their lap times round. TheVEDAS tracks that they're going to participate, and but overall the only way for them tovalidate these invasions is by testing them on the track, and there are a lot oflimitations that fie places in terms of how or the teamsallowed to actually test their cars on track. And most ofthis testing is done on simulators and these similates are, you know at thebeating age of technology, but still they don't give you the same results asactually testing things in real life. Usually, what happens is the the testing is Tucu over two weeksand each of those sessions has full days. So these teams have in all eightdays, which is a lot more than what they received this year this year, since the last season ended so late. There was a very little time remainingfor testing this year and essentially there were only three daysof testing, so these teams had to scramble to fit and everything in thosethree days as entrall right. So there is, there is less time and I thinkeveryone's scrambling to get most out of their track time tryand learn their new cars. I think it's going to be all the more challengingfor a few new folks on that dragged like we've got quite a few new driverson that track with new cars. The first one of that that comes to mind isUTANDA, coming in from carline motor racing in formula to red boots, sister team or Red Bills School. If you will filling in thatsecond position at Alfatar right, so big hopes from him has has got a brand new team as well.Yep, that's right for a while has has had the same to drivers, GRU, Jan and what's Oh man? Well, Maximien, Oh yeah, right man yeah! Once you leaveof and people just forget you so yeah yeah anyways, so they have twonew drivers. First is MIXCOAC. Who is the son of the legendary O, Michaelshoomaker and there's another rookie? That's joining the team this year, that's Nita as Apin who will be partner, Ting Mixchoor, that's true, that's true, and then...

...we have another new driver, fairly old,I would say not young some, some guy named for Nandons, neverheard of him. I haven't seen him raised much in fan last year, so it'll be interesting to see howtheir keeper forms a Rooky Hu's come back from his retirement right. I hearI got into some bias, bicycle racing and he's a rookie to because apparently hegot into an accident as well. Oh Yeah! Well that was a thing ofconcern for Halpin for a bit, because I think he had been hit by a car, vilecycling and the Edomo that he had fractured his jor something or I thinkhe had probably just enjoyed his job, but either ways the old man gathered things up, t and appeared fortesting and boring so good for him. It is good to see him back in form on thattrack. In the car lovely new drivers on the track diving into day, one a bit ofa sandstorm happening on day, one track conditions warm and windy everyone'strying to collect card data, but struggling to get that grip on on thattrack. What are some highlights and er? What are your thoughts on Day? One? Oh,yes, so day, one gently is when these teams are testing their cars prettymuch for the first time on the track. That's I mean they do get some time be testing to test out their cars for media days basically, but this is pretty much the first time thatthey're doing like real laps on the track and really pushing their cars andlike making sure that their innovations that they're working on had actuallybringing in results. Yeah. That's true and we've seen, we'veseen everyone struggling not just from a driver's perspective, but also fromthe engineering side of things where we've seen a couple of gearbox issuesare power, train issues, the first ones coming in from heavy lifters like morecities itself with, but as on Le Putting what six laps and then settingout for the rest of the day, make sure Mecca who the greater part of the worldis looking forward to see on. That drag also ran into similar issues with USyeah, and did you know that most of tees had actually forgone their mediadays and they basically lost the opposite to you know fire up the engine and do someinitial basic testing for the immediate days. What basicallyhappened was. It was raining really heavily it at Silvestin and theydecided that it's just not worth testing anything in this rain, becausethe ressels are going to be all over the place, but essentially that cameback to bite them because they wasted so much time andday one because of all the issues. That's right. Even Hamilton has beenstruggling on day and we've seen him somewhat spin on day to, but we cometoday to on day one it's just not being easy, even for heavy lifters liketalking about have left us. Do you notice how many laps red bull did onday, one it was about hundred and sixty nine laps yeah they've been showingquite some reliability there. It's a renewed red bill because I think theyhave got this good contention for the...

...title this year after coming off of avery strong season, last ing that to considering that last year, pretty muchMax was the only driver contributing to this points consider what they couldachieve with serape. Is this time yeah I mean overall from testing I'vebeen impressed with sercies performance as well, not to overshadow Red Bulls Bteam Alfatar, although UK ran out of fuel and had to in testing early, Ithink it was still a good day for both of the teams showing that Honda enginereliability and putting good a good number of laps ghastly sounded very positiveafter his day, one so yeah I mean I have my fingers crossed for D. Well, Ohyeah redpoll has been doing pretty good this year in terms of testing andanother thing that I've heard is. Honda basically has come out with the newengine this year and they say that this is based of a newplatform entirely, and since this is pretty much the last year as a enginemanufacturer, they are kind of going all in with this year's engine, andthey claim this that this new engine is faster than the mused two thousand andtwenty engine, which would probably make things a lot interesting. I'd loveto see that I'd love to see that Ranstud champions trophy go to adifferent team, although I don't mind seeing Hamilton on the podium, I'd loveto see Max and Carlos, be there way more than the men in black that I'mused to seeing last year in the previous years. Yes, certainly, I thinkpretty much. Almost all fans all around the world of F one are longing for thedays when results become a little more unpredictable than what yea currentlyare, so everyone's definitely dooting for Handan Red Bill, because I feelthat through the past couple of years, red bull has gained a lot ofperformance. They have covered a lot of ground as compared to most cities andhaving a super consistent driver like Max andthat this year he has a teammate who would give him the support that heneeds. So we can expect good things from red pool this year. That's true!Well, fingers cross well, actually talking about engines. Let's talk alittle bit about the Ferrari engine, considering all the issues that Ferrarihad last year and all the power that they had lost last year because of thecheating and then the settlement that they did with a fie and everythingMatia binet basically claims that they have made up on the power that they hadlost and last year and from what he claims it seems like theywill be more competitive, though probably not at the front, but stillthey'll be pretty close to be at the top of the you know, so called FormulaOne point: Five series that goes away right right, right, yeah I mean Ichuckled a bit there on their day. One performance case Ferrari came in withthe hopes of driving with their new power unit in hopes of getting someredemption done and that I started laughing cause. The imagi next momentwas luckier coming to a whole due to poverty unit issues, but nonetheless Imean I joke here, but nonetheless I just I agree with you that they do havethat good shot from what mate says of being at the top of the mid failures,so called one point: Five for Millay, let's hope for Farry's sake and for allthe legacy that they have that they do make. You know they do cover someground this year and I hate to see them...

...at the six position that they are rightnow at so yeah speaking of Ferrari. Let's also talk a little bit abouttheir B team, which is Alfaro. Alfa Romeo for a couple of years, except forthe last year, actually was doing pretty good in the rest of you know theback of the field, basically, but I think last year they lost a lot ofground and I'm looking at the performance thatjuvenals put in on the day one of testing. I have some renewed hopes forthis team and considering that he put in around O hundred and thirty ninelaps. That kind of also shows that they didn't have the liability that theyneed. So I'm hoping that Alpha does a lot better next year and another goodperformance put in was by Lance troll. He went forth fastest on day one, whichis quite good, though in quite honesty, the timings that we see for testing or oftentimes, not really comparable e,because a lot of these teams are doing, you know different simulations. Someare doing long. High fuel runs, some are doing qualification simulationssomehow you know trying to test their new ero innovation. So, while strollwas the fourth fastest, we still have to kind of wait to see what kind of foot performance thisGreen Mer cities delivers this year right, yeah you're right, it's been aninteresting day one! I wouldn't want to also take away what Williams Ted on day,one where they only drove their test driver Roinn. He could be that nextdriver for millions coming in from the dams team in F to Williams surprisinglylooks promising to me on contrary to what their library had made me thinkabout them. I'm hopeful I'm hopeful to see what Williams does during the racesis an interesting day. Nonetheless, with renewed hopes on day to my my twocents, there is, if day, one was all about gearbox issues. They too wasquite a lot about spinning with science, Spinning Latif Spinning Hamilton pulleda wetter and sort of almost beach, the scar bringing in the red flags. Whatare your thoughts? Oh Yeah? There are a lot of friends. Ithink it's all got to do with the one being relatively being a short day andmost teams having some of the other issues, and you know all of thesedrivers are, I mean obviously they're practicing on their own simulators. Butstill you know, driving these cars at the edge of the performance is a verydifficult task, and even if you have been practicing a lot on yourassimilators, it still is a lot different to actually drive these carson the track. It's been so long since they have driven these cars they'rebound to make mistakes, and I feel it's better to make these mistakes right nowthan after the season starts yeah and it was interesting to see Hamilton, blaming the rear of the car, not feeling right on regulation changes, although he may be right, but I I am an opinionated guy about Hamilton, although I like him as a driver now, since he is seven years streak buthands hands. Well, if you've noticed...

...botas was also kind of talking aboutsomething similar that the rare end of the merceries is not as stable as itearlier was, though, I'm not entirely sure whether this is just prescriptwords that they're saying just because they want to show that they are not atthe top of the game. I mean most of this always does this right like eachyear we see during testing. They are not always the fastest and comeAustralia. They are right there at the pole position and not just the poolposition there at one two and as like everybody, loves calling this a sign.Bagging. Basically, just pretend that you don't have theperformance and fool your competed to hers, believing that Oh yeah you're,not at the top of the game. Another interesting thing that happened I do tois Paris, is engine covered, apparently was ripped off on a strait while he wascoming off the back of Latif and he was just trying to overtake lathy fee and yeah. His injunct just blew off and itwas shattered into species and like it is all over the track. I think they hadto red flag the session. Again. There were two red flags in the in one day.Basically, they had to hold the whole session clean up the track, becausethese pieces, because most of the body ofthese cars, is carbon, fiber and once carbon fibres shot to visit, createsseason or tiny sharp like pieces which just destroy these tiles and the car,so they have to like ensure that all of these pieces are removed from the road.Otherwise, you know one of the peace could really harm. One of these drivers, speaking of incidents I mean, has, wasnot prety to escaping it either. Nikita was I guess, in in the zone for racing,I guess he was almost going to run off a few folks off the track lucky he did so yeah. That's why that'spositive and in the pilings to has as having dramas with the Mike, probablybeing overexcited starting off his car, maybe just a second earlier andoverrunning his friend Jack in the pate. No handon and no damage is done. Sothat's the good part, but it shows that, even if the team is not that reading, both the drivers are in full on action to show their metal on on the restrict, but talking of issues what there were issues with AstonMartin to Right, Aron, Oh yeah, that's what I was just about to say when yousaid that you know all drivers are trying to prove their world on thetrack. Unfortunately, Sabasian Weta did not get this opportunity through thefirst two days because he constantly hide issues I think, on day to he hadgearbox as shoes and on day one. I think he had some fuelrelated issues if I'm not wrong. But for me a bigger controversy camefrom his x teammate Charles Clare, during one of the drivers conferenceshe was as do you think you are the new team leader for Ferrari. I mean it's anobvious question from presas he's got a new team mate Carlos Science in therewho's also going to try to prove his metal, but his response. His firstwords were well, I have more time with Ferrari than Carlos, so it could be B,but I don't think there is a leader. I...

...mean I sort of see this as a beginningof a sort of relation, although he tried to cover it up, but he still wentahead, saying that he's got more time showing that mentally he's, probablythinking he's a leader, even though the team doesn't have any of all that stuff. So, overall, I think an interesting, controversial fun fill day to I know I think oral day too was a little better for everybody in thesense that teams were able to actually put in some good laps and they were actually able to gauge theperformances of their cars and so yeah. I think over all day, two was muchbetter now and to think of it. Actually most of these had a pretty good day onday to, after all, the speculation that went on and d one with all the gear boxissues. Well, Tribos was at the top of the chart, and I to so you know thereyou have it most of these. You cannot underestimate them. They still areseven time world champion and you still have to give them the due respect. Anotherperson who did really well On da to was Pierre Ghastly as a you talked toearlier as well. I think Pierre has really found his home at Alfatar yeah.Somehow he has jelled up with the team so well. He is in tune with the car sowell that I think we can expect great things from Pie this year. You a secondon the charge and yeah. I feel that Alpha Tower, youwould probably play a larger role than just being a B T at red bill this year.If Pierre continues to deliver this performance, agre totally age, all right. So, let'smove on to the day. Three of testing day, one and D to I think most teamswere trying to work out all their issues. This was their first timetrying to test out their cars and they were trying to make all themistakes early on as they could so that you know they don't make these mistakeswhen the season begins. So, relatively speaking, to three was a much betterday with a lot fewer incidents and most of these teams had quite smooth running, as you could see-Williams as well doing decently, Russell in particular doing good, and Ithink in one of the trust conferences he mentioned, that Williams wouldprobably have a kind of a Yueen this year, where they might be quite quickon some tracks and a really slow on the others. So that's something to lookforward to I'm kind of tired to see Williams and one thousand nine tunedand twenty eight position race after Reiss, so I'm really hoping that they are at least able to score somepoints. The season, because I think that itself would be a large step for them. Yeah, I'm hoping that Williams make up ground this year and talking about good performances. YukiSonoda is another driver who really did well On da three. I think he came insecond right behind Max and I think that's that's a great feat, becauseYuki is it's his rookie year. Alfatar is very competitive team with pereghastly as it as his teammate, and I think he has a lot to prove. I'm surehe's super excited for this opportunity, because being an Alfatar is pretty muchan express the kit to get into dreadful...

...and every junior driver wants to go tored bill, because I think redpole is one of the few teams which one of the few top teams, rather whichis always eager to pick up. These young drivers, like teams like Mercedes andFra, are often times really reluctant to give their second sea to new drivers, and I mean, even if you think about it right, like recently, they are hired. The all of the drivers have been so young even to think of Max when Maxjoined red bull he he was barely eighteen right. I think there was apoint when he was driving of one cars and he didn't havea license to drive a regular can which that weak for itself yeah and Max also had an amazingperformance during this testing he topped the chart went one as well asday three. I think that just comes to show how consistent Max has becomethese days. I think that Hamilton should be a little worried that if redbill does deliver a card with which Max can fight Hamilton, I think he's goingto have some problems. That's true, and it's it's not justgoing to be Red Beltis, I mean at least not o thousand and twenty one, butthere is. There is some good hopes coming in from Frari as well. Kids, with the with the driver's press conference towards the end, when, whenwe have the principles, stocking Mateo sounded very confident for the car, atleast on this trades he was. He was self aware that they probablydon't have a fight for the top this year, but they do see themselvescontending good for that Mickie and the Formula F. One point five position. My concerns, though, are only with thehas probably cause they've openly said that they are not going to beconcentrating on on two thousand a D twenty one. I wish I could say that atmy job they are looking already into twothousand and twenty two. The drivers are eager to prove themselves and wecould see that in day, three with Masai almost again running into what was aspun Lewis on that track. But that just gives me hopes for Williams as well, because I can see them finishing at least the head of a hash in the season,so fingers cross for that overall day, three year, drivers trying to get morelaps in getting themselves comfortable with with their car wrapping thoughtsand day. Three from you, Sara Yeah. I think over all day three was relativelya Duda from the perspective of audience. Teams must be really happy becausethere was notion an IGANS. It was all you know all boring as it should befrom their perspective. Things should be as predictable as possible andthat's how it was so. I think overall, they must have gathered a lot of gooddata which they would be analyzing over the next couple of weeks, tuning theircars or getting them ready for for the next race, which starts on twentyeighth of March at Barin, so yeah, I think. Overall, it was a successful dayfor all the teams with three days of testing them. There was definitely sometech that stood out and some innovations that stood out right,Sarann, the first one, for me at least was alpha. Tour is in court fancy inthose which is interesting, because what they've done is they've housed thecamera. In that fancy nose only to monitor this front doing flexing, Imean it's illegal to have frendon flexing, but it's also impossible toavoid it with high speeds, so they've...

...dropped in a camera there to monitorthe air flow and a front doing flexing for our Alfatar. What were some other innovations that should at for you seyeah? I think redpoll really stood out this time. I think there's been a lotof talk this year, that, with the changes in the regulations for thefloor, a lot of chatter going on that red bull is probably going to gain someadvantage here, because the way red will cards are designed, they generallyhave a higher Rak. Basically, what that means is that they have the rare andrare end of the car higher as compared to the front of the car, which gives them a little bit of aground effect. Ground effect is nothing but drag that air produces when it goesunder the car, which creates a kind of a suction effect, and it really helpsthe card stick to the ground and at the speeds at which these cards are going. This ground effect is really important because it gives them good tractionwithout actually adding any Erinon mic drag so that way they can go faster andthey can take the corners faster, which basically translates into faster a lotof times in an also do something to add something similar to to their benefitthere. Oh yeah, there's a there has been a lot of talk about this, so McLaren has basically come up with kindof a red diffuser and that also kind of creates this ground effect, which againkind of really would help them to carry speed through these gardeners, and that definitely is going to shave off some few seconds of ther lap timesand with the new MC Moses engine that the housing in their car, I think nowthey are going to have this extra performance which they would have tocompensate with having better aid anemic so that they can actually usethat extra performance to gain some lad time. Talking about ground effect, you cansee that the field is kind of divided a little in terms of free candles, andyou can see that the cards which are more similar to mercies type designs, have a lower Ra cangle, and this was actually advantages for all of thesecars. In the older regulations where you were allowed to have slits in yourfloor, which is now banned this year, and with that change is ons of floor. The cars which have a higher ray anglelike red toil, are going to gain some advantage, or at least that is whateverybody speculating. But one interesting thing which I saw was thatimmerses has actually come up with an innovation to counter the lower reakingrangle that they have so since slits were banned on the floor, they havecome up with this new design where they actually mould the floor into peaks andvalleys so that it simulates the effect of slits on the floor without actuallyhaving slips on the floor. Oh Wow, oh wow, yeah. We see these innovationscoming in from more cities every year, and it's just I mean it. It makes me go just closeyour mind right see. I am out of words. I am my brain just slows down yeah, but also talking about unearnest. Thereis AL panes massive air box on top of their car, which is good out for me.They what they've done, is sort of...

...taken a concept of central line, cooling. What that essentially means is they've, taken all their radiators andas search and put it on top of their car. With that center air float out, albeit raises their center of gravity, and it may be a bad thing, but expertssay that it also increases and gives them a best air of performance. So onlytime is going to tell how that car is going to perform. Is it going to beperforming as good as it looks? Oh Yeah, and did you also notice that Alpine wasactually testing out a two different rare ends of the car, or rather two different engine coversof the card where one was pretty sleek instant covered with a larger back fin,and one was much chunker engine cover. So I I guess that they, they kind ofknow about the higher sense of gravity that they have with this larger er antake, and I think they are trying out different solutions to make sure thatthis does not affect their air performance. Agree, agree but well,Saran. After all of this exciting three days, innovations and fingers crossedon whatever's going to happen throughout the rest of the year. What Iwant to ask you is a different form of our episode, ending tradition, which iswhat are your top three predictions from drivers and what are your topthree predictions from constructors? Oh well, predictions this is going to be interesting. Let me think all right number one forme would be Pierre Ghastly gets number eight on theTravis Championship. I feel that Pierre has been gaining a lot ofmomentum with his race win last year and overall, strong performances throughoutthe season with Alfatar improving their performance, him jelling so well with the team, aswell as Honda coming up with entirely new design for their engine. I thinkall these factors might really help peer to beat the other folks and getthat eighth position. The second prediction for me is for is for Daniel Ricardo. I would predictwith him going to McLaren that's just going to probably improve hisconfidence. Last year we saw Daniel at the fifth position and drivesChampionsip, but since he's changing teams, I think he'll continue to holdthat position and I think he might have a couple of not so good races at the start of theseason, but he'll soon get in tune with the car and bring the fight to AstonMartin as well as Alpine, and I think he'll maintain his position as as fifthon the board. The third prediction for me would be for Jos Russell. I creditthat he will finally get his point in the Williams, and I hope this is the year for him and yeah, so he probably will end up not at the nineteenth position andsomewhere a little about probably seventeen or eatin. Well, so, for methe driver predictions go. I mean I...

...want to start off with my favoritedriver on the traces back Fernanda Langer. It's going to be interesting, seeinghim, but I still think he's going to have a good drear. ICH is bringing thatgood experience for him, bringing that good experience from him. I think it'sgoing to be seven on the grid of drivers. Championsnext up for me, as far as he's gonna, give that good fight on that top leaderboard, and I see him as before and science, although the car is not goingto perform as good as finds hope, but I think he's going to get that point he'sgoing to finish above likely. No, that's a bold prediction, but, however constructors Sorra, ohwell, for me I think red bull. I think red bull would finally bring the fightto merceries. I little don't I'm not confident that they will win theconstructors championship, but I think finally there would be some fight atthe constructor championship with such a Paris joining the team and, as Italked about earlier, the new engine from Honda and also considering all the talk. That's been going around about red pill having an advantage in terms of having a card that's more suited to thenew regulations. If red will are able to remove all their reliability issues,I think that this year would finally be the yearwhen we actually see our title fight. The second prediction for me would be for Alpine. I think Alpine hasbeen doing good. They are slowly gaining that momentum eurovision lastyear they were fifth on the driver champion on the ConstructorChampionship and they were actually quite close toracing point. So I think that they'll continue to hold the fifth position that they had last year, but this yearthey probably will be closer to Aston, Martin and MC Laren as compared to thelast year. So probably this is going to be a stronger for them as well. The third team that I want to talkabout is alphere. Alpha Romeo has always been a small team which punchesa lot above their weight last year was probably an exception, and I would sayit was not entirely their fault pretty much. Everybody knows whathappened with the FENARDI engine and that directly translated into terribleresults for all the FRATI customer teams and Alfaro was obviously a victimof the same issue. If what Matia has been talking about the improvements inthe Ferrari engineer, true, I think Alpha would do a lot better. This yearlast year they were eight and I'm hoping that they. I don't think thatit'll be seventh on the board, because Alfatar has been doing really good, butI feel that they would not be a hundred points behind the seventh position asthey were last year. I think they would be a lot closer and I think that theywould be the clear winners at the end of the constructor stable Eh. For me, Ithink Aston Martins are going to have a good season. I think it's going toeither well, let's say. Fourth, fourth on the table, I I was going to sayeither third or for but let's say...

...fourth on the table. Mark is gonna bore me and they aregoing to continue winning the constructed title. So I think Sarrinyou and I are going to have good contention if red bill keep winningwish is to my want from the championship morekeeps winning. My third prediction is for Williams, because I'm excited for them having a new technical director Jenson Button astheir technical advisor. I think they are going to not finishlast Monday table this year and it's going to be p nine for them on the table withprobly has, but I don't know it's going to be before them, but I think it'sgoing to be a hospitle of them. He Akash how about this. I have an idea: let's do something different, let'sthrow in a wild card prediction. What I mean with I that is give me the wildestprediction that you can make and let's see if that comes true, that's interesting. You know what I'm going to continuewith my optimism on Williams, and I say that out of the twenty drivers, Russellfinishes, fourteen or fifteen at high up out of the twenty rivers. What'syours for me, I think it would be kind of acontinuation of last year. I think we are going to see the super substitutethat Nikolka bull back on the track, the son for sure again the season yeahand considering all the coved was stillgoing on over the world. There is still a high chance of Sundiver, touching itand Nico being in the right position to come and substitoot to see that I'dlove to see that well folks, with that you have it. Thiswas another episode from Fan Fiction on our thoughts about the pre testingseason. Coming forward will dive into the race weeks. It's going to be soexciting, with these new colors and the unpredictable ness from the pre testingthat we take into these weekends so tune in to hear more about theseweekends and our banter and our thoughts on those races, and you canagain listen us on any of your favorite screaming platforms until next time byFox by bye, a.
